In 1998 a nd 2002\, singer-songwriter Matthew van der Want and Chris Letcher (ex Urb an Creep\, singer-songwriter and composer) collaborated as an acoustic duo to release two albums\, and one EP. 1998's full length 'Low Riding' was n ominated for two South African Music Awards namely 'Best Rock' and 'Best A dult Contemporary' album. 2002's follow up 'Bignity' garnered a 'Best Rock ' album nomination at that years South Africa Music Awards. Both albums we re recorded for Shifty Records by Lloyd Ross. The duo received vast critic al acclaim and have been repeatedly hailed as two of South Africa's top si nger-songwriters\, 'Bignity' was awarded the additional accolade of 'top t en' in the Mail & Guardian's albums of the decade (2000–2010).
